Move to the country

This is currently THE GOAL. 

A bunch of other dreams, large and small, rest on this dream. Logically it must be completed first so I bring you to:

THE PLAN:

This is what we have.

This land was gifted to my husband and I by my parents when we married. It is just about five acres. There is a gravel pit to the left of the picture and a square of ground to the right of the picture that are also included. A well and septic suitable for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house are already installed on the site. This is where we will be moving. 

The main reason we aren't living there right now is that there is no place to live on the property. At this point we have no money to put something on the property (and no time before winter). When we approached the bank about getting a loan we were told that we are carrying too much debt and needed to pay down the debt before we would qualify for a loan. I like lists so here's what needs to happen to achieve the dream:

1. Pay down existing debt 
2. Get Loan
3. Build a place to live
4. Move!

Sooo... easily said, less easily done. I think I'll tackle these one at a time:

1. Pay down existing debt

This is currently in progress. We used part of our wedding money to pay Hubby's Mom's car down to the point that it will be paid off in April if we make the minimum payment from now until then. Once that car is paid off Hubby will be able to apply for a small personal loan. 

2. Get Loan

Neither Hubby or myself have wonderful credit, so in order to give us the best possible chance at getting the small personal loan we need to pay all of our bills on time between now and the loan application. This is part of being an adult that we have both struggled with in the past. 

3. Build a place to live

We're looking at a two story garage that we could turn the upstairs into a small apartment until we can get a mortgage to build a house. 

4. Move!

Dream achieved! 

I'm the type of person that needs to have a deadline to work towards or nothing ever gets done. The "deadline" for this dream is October 1, 2015 which is the day the lease on the apartment we live in runs out. Timer is currently set at 342 days.
